A visit to Maywood
On October 8 I was privileged to give a program titled, "The Importance of Saving Natural Areas" and autograph my books, "Saving Peacock Prairie". Maywood is an environmental park in Sheboygan. In Wisconsin there are only three city-owned environmental parks, and this one is outstanding. It is 135 acres and includes 6 different ecosystems. Residents (children and adults of all ages) of Sheboygan benefit from the dedicated staff and volunteers who appear to have environmentalism in their very bones. I enjoyed a tour of their energy-efficient facilities, and in the spring I plan to return to enjoy a tour of some of those valuable 6 ecosystems. Hats off to the wonderful people who made this place happen! Bernice.
